Free of childcare duties, Clove drives back to the Earthside supermarket with her completed job application. The store immediately hires Clove, and she starts to work. She also requests that Jane, the woman she rear-ended, be her trainer at the grocery store. Jane used to date another employee of the store named Mike, who Clove immediately feels suspicious of because when introduced, Mike checks her out without even trying to hide it.

After her training, Clove comes into the employee room to find Jane crying. Stephen, another store employee with whom she’s been sleeping, has been sharing her nude photos with the other employees without her consent. Jane has been trying to get pregnant by sleeping with random men, as she’s given up on the chance to follow the more typical path to having a family. Clove warns her away from men, and her distrust of their intentions is on display more than she intends.
