Celaena returns to Elena’s tomb and looks at the queen’s sarcophagus. She moves the blue gem on the queen’s crown and reveals a small compartment. It’s empty, and Celaena knows the king has the Wyrdkey that was hidden there. Mort confirms this, saying the king was 20 when he took it. Celaena realizes the king uses the Wyrdkey to suppress all other magic but his own, which also means he likely has two Wyrdkeys, not one. She decides that she must talk to Nehemia to see what her plan had been before she died, and to say goodbye. Celaena leaves the tomb and goes down a different passageway with a door she’s never opened, hoping to open a portal to the Otherworld.
Dorian dreams of King Gavin. He stands with Gavin in a stone chamber with glowing green Wyrdmarks on the walls. Gavin tells Dorian to wake up and stop Celaena. Gavin tells the prince where to find the secret door in her bedroom and to take the third passage on the right. If Dorian doesn’t go now, he will lose Celaena forever.
